Someone To Watch Over Me by Sienna Mynx Review
This was a quick and easy read that left me feeling the way that I want to feel at the end of a book. I had no real questions about what happens next, there were no holes left open, everything was neatly and believably tied up at the end. In an era of cliffhangers (which I hate with a passion) I appreciate a well written and complete story when I get one. I don't see this as being the start of a series, just an enjoyable one of stand alone book.
I have recently begun reading biker/Motorcycle Club books and the worlds created are often gritty, rough, violent, and descriptive. Mynx definitely puts her own spin on the MC world by giving us a look into a black club that is on the verge of imploding. At the center of their downfall is a young woman seeking revenge and justice for her murdered brother. KaeCee is a club princess who goes against everything that she was raised to believe in, to live and die for, all to see the man responsible for her suffering and the death of her brother pay for his crimes.
Brought in by the Spyders to find KaeCee, Brick can't seem to bring himself to shake his unusual but intense attraction to the young woman on the run from one of the most powerful MC's in the country. After finding her, Brick has to make a choice between going with his gut or honoring his contract and turning KaeCee over to the club who has paid him well for his services. Brick is a bit different from most of the heroes we get in romance. Brick doesn't trust his ability to make confident and well thought out decisions. As the story develops it is revealed why he has the problems that he does. However, I don't believe that a man can be a trusted enforcer for the Russian mob, survive that service, and run his own business and be overly unintelligent. Maybe not a genius, but definitely not stupid. You simply don't survive the life that Brick has led being dumb.
Oh, if only Jason Momoa could act well because I could so see this as a movie! Maybe Ryan Hurst who played Opie on Sons of Anarchy could play Brick. Oh well, a girl can dream! In typical Mynx style, you get an interesting story with just the right amount of steaminess in Someone To Watch Over Me. All in all another good addition to my ever growing Sienna Mynx collection.
The enemy of my enemy is a lover of mine…
Sometimes a girl’s savior could be the man no one dare trusts…
KaeCee Everett is a wanted woman. The leader of the Black Spyder motorcycle gang wants her dead. The federal agents sworn to protect her have cut her loose. The Russian mafia has a vested interest in the secrets she protects. And the father she had hoped would love and shield her from the violence of his legacy now sits in prison and plots his revenge. On the run for her life she arrives in Los Angeles with only one hope of surviving the chase. However, one of the fiercest enforcers turned private investigator has her under the scope of his lens. Will he help her avenge her brother’s death and escape the contract on her head? Or will his dark obsession with her be their ultimate demise?
Disclaimer: Someone To Watch Over Me is a fully developed novella based off of the short story “Private Dick and the Red Shoes,” in the Scarlet Diaries anthology by T.A. Ford.
